Casio at its best!

If the parameter of judgment is the quality - price ratio, and if you can find this original Casio at the pre-pandemic price and various international disasters, well, gentlemen, here we are faced with "Casio at its best!". My review should already end by saying that I paid only 19 euros for this latest Casio fighting bull. Now it costs a few euros more, but as all watch enthusiasts know, it is impossible to go back to pre-covid prices and the microchip crisis. But I can assure you that up to 35 euros-dollars, our W800H is deserved to be bought and experienced. Its list price at the time of writing this post is 34.90 euros on the official Casio website.
And let's start with the only negative note for me, but which for many of you could be irrelevant, that is, this Casio is one of the few models where you cannot deactivate the beep of the buttons when you change or scroll through the various functions. On youtube, you should find a tutorial in English (if it hasn't been removed), where it is explained how, through a small modification, you can silence the sound of the buttons. Just as, and if you want you can also consider this as a negative note, this Casio does not have a countdown timer, but only a stopwatch function. Also in this case, you will find a video on Youtube where it is explained how to insert this function, simply by working on the internal module, without adding anything. Operation, however, that requires some experience.

Enough. These are the only defects that I would like to communicate to those who choose to buy this Casio as their first Casio watch, or to those who, as Casio collectors, are undecided whether to add this model to their collection. And now let's move on to the good stuff. There are two versions of this model, mine is called Casio W-800H-1AVDF (if you want to buy it on Amazon USA click here), which differs from the other twin version Casio W-800-H-1BVES due to the coloring of the internal liquid crystal (if want to buy the latter on Amazon USA, click here). Both are Amazon'choice. The only stainless steel element of this Casio (see photo), in addition to the keys and pins that obviously hold the strap to the case, is the typical Casio caseback, held in place by four screws. From top to bottom we read: Casio, the module number 3240, the name of the W-800H series, stainless steel back, Water Resistant 10 bar, made in China and EA. The identification codes of the strap are shown on both internal parts of the strap: 738 - EA218 - PUR (this acronym means Poly Urethane).
For Casio collectors, the strap will already be a nice surprise. More precisely, Casio always uses, as an alternative to steel models, resin or polyurethane for its straps or parts of the case. I have always preferred to call them plastic watches. The type of plastic used for this model, however, is very soft and, therefore, more flexible. In other words, if you have an F91W or a DW291H, the strap of our W800H is far superior, especially if you intend to use it, like me, for some types of sports that make you sweat a lot, like running and MTB. Furthermore, the size of the strap makes this model suitable for almost all types of wrists, from extra small to really large wrists. The internal part, in fact, measures a good 14 cm, while the external part with the buckle, about 10. But Casio's skill was in positioning many holes to tighten or widen the strap based on the dilation of the wrist due to the greater circulation of blood during sports. To make it even easier for you, my wrist measures perfectly 20 cm in circumference, but under the sun and on MTB, it dilates a lot. When this happens, I have five holes up, and seven holes down to adjust the strap.

And now let's move on to the description of the many beautiful things about the dial (hahaha!). The size of the case is 44.2 × 36.8 × 13.4 mm and a total weight of just 37 grams (now you understand why you can do so many beautiful sports with it on your wrist). Unmistakable Casio design, that is a watch with a retro vintage look but at the same time cyber futuristic. I call all this, Casio alchemy. Four steel side keys: at the top left we have the adjust key, at the bottom left the mode key. At the top right, the light key and, finally, at the bottom right, the 12/24H key.

Inside the dial we find a blue line extended without interruption over the entire dial, which, together with the red writing "10 years battery", and a red circle highlighting the writing "100M", gives a slight pepsi look to the 'clock. In any case, on the inside of the dial, but not on the liquid crystal module, we have the inscriptions: CASIO, 10 years batter, the name of the keys, and at the bottom the inscription WATER 100M RESIST. The screen, on the other hand, is truly unique and particular. From top to bottom we can identify three sections: at the top, in a rectangle, the name of the day is displayed, and on the side we have the abbreviations SNZ (snooze), ALM and SIG.
A rectangle appears next to each of these abbreviations to indicate that the relative function is active. In the central part of the screen, on the other hand, the complete time is displayed in hours, minutes and seconds.

Finally, in the lower part, we have the complete date, year, month and day. Setting the clock is very simple. By pressing the adjust button once, the seconds start flashing. With the mode key, you scroll through the parts you want to adjust (hours, minutes, date, etc.). By pressing the 12/24H key, you change the type of hour format. If you choose the 12-hour format, a small p will appear next to the hours. Immediately after we find the alarm function. The particularity of this model lies in the fact that it is possible to select only one alarm clock/alarm but which, however, can also be programmed for a specific day, a day of a specific month, a specific month. This model also has a snooze function and hourly chime. After the alarm function we find the stopwatch. Subsequently the dual time, so you can select a foreign zone of your interest, and then you return to the main screen. In each function change, the main time is always visible at the bottom left.
Finally, as regards the lighting of the dial through the light button, for this model Casio has opted for a green LED, located at the bottom left, but which sufficiently illuminates all the elements of the dial for about two seconds. The battery is of the CR2025 type with an approximate life of ten years, and the watch is waterproof up to 10 bar. What can I say guys, addressing this time only to Casio collectors, this battle forklift, with all its limitations, cannot be missing from your collection.
